‘He waked to his feast of memory…a life still ruled by a pale ghost, still ordered by a sovereign presence.’ This might describe what both the main characters experience upon being rousted as they enter into their respective waking nightmares of dead lovers, long dead grandparents, one of whom has taken on a strange reptilian form after rising from the murk of the nearby lake. These are ghosts that are eerie extensions of their everyday reality.
Graduated from the School of Visual Arts in NYC (2005). Worked as a producer assistant at Robert Altman’s Sandcastle 5 Productions and later as an assistant to director Noah Baumbach. He made his first feature SHUNKA (2011) which won the Kodak Vision Award for cinematography and Spirit of Slamdance Sparky audience award. A film that Robert Koehler of Variety in his review called, “Mesmerizing! Visually and aurally stunning…the final impact is of a Whitmanesque poem put onscreen.” Chosen by the Baltimore City Paper as a critic’s pick calling it, “a lush paean to life’s mysteries…will leave you with an open-ended appreciation of life’s tiny wonders, but no conclusions. Lovely.”
