I TURN TO JELLO

A short film about a cello player who is horrible at auditioning….and even worse at knowing when to stop auditioning. It is a character study of a beleaguered artist who is perhaps driven to the point delusion by the pressures of performance.

Director’s Bio
Andrew T. Betzer (1974) is a 2000 graduate of the University of Maryland (UMBC) film program. His short films have played in numerous festivals including Cannes, London Film Festival, Rotterdam, AFI, Torino, and Slamdance. In 2008, his short film “Small Apartment” won the Grand Jury Award for best narrative short film at the South By Southwest Film Festival. Also, his short film “John Wayne Hated Horses” was an official selection of the 2009 Cannes Directors’ Fortnight. In 2009, he was named one of Filmmaker Magazine’s “25 New Faces Of Independent Film”. In 2010, a retrospective of Andrew’s short films was shown at New York’s Anthology Film Archives. It was accurately entitled “Running Amok With Andrew T. Betzer”. In 2014, “Young Bodies Heal Quickly”, Andrew’s first feature film as writer and director, premiered at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival and was picked up for distribution by Factory 25. It’s theatrical release was in February 2015 and it was named one of New Yorker critic Richard Brody’s best films of 2015. Andrew’s a new short film entitled “I Turn To Jello” that premiered at the 54th New York Film Festival.
