Directors’ Bio

Sofia Bonami is a writer-director based in Los Angeles. She attended Bard College where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Film and Screenwriting, while simultaneously working for the Bard Prison Initiative (BPI), a program that creates the opportunity for incarcerated men and women to earn a Bard College degree while serving their sentences.

Upon graduating, Sofia was invited by Sony Pictures Classics co-president Marcie Bloom and vice-president Dylan Leiner to join the IFP-Marcie Bloom Fellowship in Film, a New York based mentoring program offered to four receipts each year. She now acts as the fellowship’s Associate Director. Until recently Sofia worked as a Creative Marketing Producer at A24, the studio behind Best Picture Winner Moonlight, The Lobster, The Witch, Room, Amy, Ex Machina and more.

In effort to refocus her career on writing and directing, she now assists award winning director-producer Mimi Leder (Deep Impact, The Peacemaker, ER, The Leftovers) on The Morning Show, the highly anticipated Apple TV+ series starring Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon and Steve Carell.

BLACKOUT is Sofia’s first short film.
